Supporting Art, Education and Culture

3rd Wind Community Foundation

Cultural Harbour (CH) is an arts/education funding project that directs surplus funds in 3rd Wind’s income balance sheet to creative enterprise and education initiatives.

Funding

Cultural Harbour allocates financial and other types of support through artist payments, project funding, commissioning and procurement. Targeted funds include:

Performing Artist Fund – a fund that pays performing artists a set fee on a per show basis. Artists who meet qualifying criteria are contracted for regular or one-off events. The aims of this fund are to: financially support/reward performing artists; create an entertainment programme based in the 3rd Wind Community precinct; bring new artists to 3rd Wind from other performer pools.

Asset Fund – a fund that provides community assets that enable and support CH’s creative aims. Initiatives include running a community radio station, purchasing art and building asset stocks for landscaping.

CHSL Stipend – a grant to assist with the expenses of the Cultural Harbour Project, a 3rd Wind showcase region in Second Life that runs an active arts programme through its NUNA Gallery. This stipend is used to fund art exhibitions and openings, enable lectures and engage in 3rd Wind promotional activities. Costs for these activities include artist fees and performer payments at exhibition openings.

Project Fund – a fund that enables community projects including an Artist in Residence programme and CH.EDtalks, a public lecture programme of guest speakers.

Cultural Harbour offers non-fiscal support by creating and allocating appropriate virtual resources to arts and education initiatives. It supplies public land to The Mesh Project, NUNA Gallery, Haleakiki and the Artist in Residence project.
